Harry, Judith and Leonard Wilf Woman and Infant Center on "Charlie's Floor"
One of Shaare Zedek’s centers of excellence, the Harry, Judith and Leonard Wilf Woman and Infant Center, addresses the health issues of women at every stage of their lives, from adolescence to old age.
An entire floor of the hospital is dedicated to the Center, dubbed “Charlie’s Floor” in memory of our long-serving Chairman of the Executive, Charles Bendheim, of blessed memory.
There is no other center in Israel or the entire Middle East of the same size and scope and only a handful in the world. The Center was established in June 1999 in response to recent scientific findings which make clear that women’s health problems differ significantly from those of men.
Prof. Arnon Samueloff, Director of Maternity Department and Pregnancy Complications Unit
A major health issue in most women’s lives, albeit a totally natural event, is childbirth. We have therefore devoted a significant amount of space in the Center to helping the women of Jerusalem and the vicinity bring babies into the world, in an environment that is comfortable and home-like, but with the most up-to-date technology close at hand for times when it is needed.
More babies come into the world at Shaare Zedek than at any Jerusalem hospital and the number has increased markedly since the Center opened its doors. Our latest record - 14,020 babies born during 2010! The women of Jerusalem clearly like the Center’s comfortable environment and the care we provide!
