Organizational Structure
Shaare Zedek Medical Center is a voluntary, non-profit, teaching hospital, fully affiliated academically with the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and additionally teaches medical students from Ben Gurion University of the Negev, making it the only hospital in Israel providing extensive teaching to two out of Israel's four Faculties of Medicine.

Shaare Zedek operates under the direction of an international Board of Directors which mandates all developmental and policy-related decisions for the hospital and instructs its administration.

Professor Jonathan Halevy, Director General of the hospital, operates in cooperation with a management team of deputy directors and is responsible for supervising all daily administrative and medical aspects of the institution.

Each medical department or specialty unit comprising the Medical Center is supervised by an experienced department or unit head, responsible for the administrative and medical functioning of that specific area.

The hospital staff comprises more than 350 doctors, 800 nurses, 200 paramedical staff and 550 administrative and maintenance personnel.
