Areas of Activity
Our three physicians are all specialists in both pediatric medicine and infectious diseases. We provide all aspects of care from diagnosis throughout treatment of infectious diseases in children.
The Unit provides consultation to children in all Shaare Zedek Medical Center pediatric units: Pediatric Emergency Medicine Department, Pediatrics (inpatient department), pediatric surgery, pediatric day hospital, neonatology/neonatal intensive care and pediatric nephrology.
Additionally, consultations are offered to outpatients. Appointments are made through Shaare Zedek Medical Center's Appointment Service, Tel: 02-655-5999.
Our physicians are actively involved in the comprehensive care of pediatric inpatients in all pediatric departments. Furthermore, they play a significant role in student and intern instruction at their various stages of training.

In addition to our clinical work, the Pediatric Infectious Diseases Unit also operates a research laboratory, directed by Dr. Schlesinger. The lab focuses mainly on molecular diagnosis of infectious diseases, and through this methodology seeks greater understanding of various aspects of viral infections in children.
Our Unit's physicians take part in international studies managed by the pharmaceutical industry, mainly pertaining to innovative immunizations combating a range of pediatric diseases.
