The High Risk Pregnancy unit at the Maternity department belongs to the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department. Its mission is to care for pregnant mothers and fetuses and improve the condition of both mother and unborn child.

Our patient population includes women at all stages of pregnancy, with pregnancies that have been defined "high risk" due to the condition of mother, fetus or both, such as women coping with pregnancies complicated by heart or respiratory disease.

The Unit operates in close cooperation with the departments of Neonatology, Obstetric Ultrasound, Medical Genetics, and Obstetric Anesthesiology.
Women are referred to the Unit from the community ("Kupot Cholim"), the delivery room reception unit and outpatient clinics.

Research
The Unit devotes special attention to the study of preterm births (of single and multiple fetus pregnancies), their reasons and prediction by bio-chemical and genetic markers.

Teaching
Several senior physicians specializing in maternal-fetal health work in the Unit, providing ongoing teaching to interns and students. Additionally, graduation projects of medical students and basic science course work of interns in obstetrics and gynecology are carried out at the Unit.

Activity under the auspices of the Israeli Society for Maternal Fetal Medicine (ISMFM)
Dr. Grisaru Granovsky is a member of the ISMFM steering committee, a position through which she promotes various aspects of this unique field of medicine.
