Shaare Zedek Medical Center's Obstetrics and Gynecology Ultrasound Unit is part of the Division of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

The Unit provides examination services to all women hospitalized in the Division's departments, women referred from the Department of Emergency Medicine (ER) and the Delivery Room as well as women referred from community clinics (Kupot Holim) for directive exams.

Additionally, the unit performs ultrasound-guided invasive procedures including: amniocentesis, Chorionic villus sampling (CVS) and fetal blood sampling (FBS).

The Unit cooperates with all Obstetrics and Gynecology Division departments as well as with the department of Neonatology, Medical Genetics and Pediatric Surgery.

Women are referred to the Unit through the Division departments and through community clinics (Kupot Holim).

Research
Dr. Rabinowitz researches the fetal urinary tract and fetal urine production in many clinical aspects, in collaboration with Dr. Boris Chertin, Director of the Pediatric Urology Unit, and takes part in fertility studies with a special interest in Pre Implantation Genetic Diagnosis (PGD), headed by Prof. Talia Geva Eldar and Dr. Gheona Alterescu.

Teaching
Unit staff take an active part in this dynamic field, teaching interns and students.

Community Activities
Dr. Rabinowitz is in charge of quality assurance of obstetric and gynecology ultrasound at Clalit Health Services' Jerusalem County. This position includes maintaining the high quality of testing, good equipment and appropriate work conditions for physicians and technicians.
