Hospital staff members gather around Professor Jonathan Halevy and the Torah dedicated in the merit of Rabbi Mordechai Eliyahu.

In a gesture on behalf of the health of Rabbi Mordechai Eliyahu members of the hospital administration and doctors who have been directly involved with his care were invited to write some of the final letters of a sefer torah written in his honor.

Rabbi Eliyahu, who as a former Sephardic Chief Rabbi of Israel and is a deeply revered figure all across the country, has been treated extensively at Shaare Zedek in recent months.  He and his staff have developed a warm relationship with the hospital and therefore chose to have the medical staff and hospital administrators take part in this highly significant ceremony.

Professor Jonathan Halevy, Director General at Shaare Zedek was the first person invited to inscribe one of the letters.  He accepted the honor and said that it should be in merit of a speedy and full recovery for the rabbi.  The other people provided with this honor expressed the same sentiments.
