Medical Students (Elective)

Are you in your final year of medical school? Want to turn your elective into an unforgettable experience?
Come join us at Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem!

Jerusalem, the eternal capital of Israel, is a vibrant, multicultural metropolis. Shaare Zedek Medical Center, centrally located opposite Mount Herzl, has accompanied the city's dramatic history for over a century. Combining excellent medicine with compassionate care, from early 20th century typhoid patients to contemporary terror victims, Shaare Zedek has accumulated invaluable experience and is considered a center of excellence in numerous medical fields.  Students of all religions are welcome to take part in studying the medical world of tomorrow, inspired by thousands of years of Jewish tradition.

Shaare Zedek Medical Center is a JCI accredited hospital, fully affiliated with the Hebrew University Faculty of Medicine and conducts regular clinical instruction for medical students.

The overseas elective program at Shaare Zedek is intended for medical students in their final year of medical school only. We will consider applications for durations ranging between 2-4 weeks, according to our teaching schedule and other factors. Shaare Zedek offers this unique opportunity to medical students at no charge, however, we do not offer accommodations and students are responsible for all expenses. Please note that the work week in Israel takes place between Sunday-Thursday and electives must be scheduled accordingly (Friday-Saturday are not work days for students).  In addition, we do not accept students to the overseas elective program during the summer months (July-August) and Israeli holiday seasons.
