The vision of Shaare Zedek Medical Center includes the goal of advancing medical research. We are committed to forging new paths for treating patients and actively encouraging our staff to lead, collaborate and participate in research efforts in Israel and beyond.

We are proud of the multiple research initiatives performed in all of Shaare Zedek's departments and units. In recent years we have seen a massive increase in the number of research projects conducted in Shaare Zedek. Over 300 annual publications in medical journals of investigators' initiated studies in addition to almost 160 clinical trials, initiated by industry.

To assist and inspire such efforts, Shaare Zedek is affiliated with the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. We have also established research collaborations with a variety of organizations, such as the Jerusalem College of Technology (Machon Lev) and the Azrieli College of Engineering. The collaboration between the Research and Development Authority and "Mada'it", the technology transfer company of Shaare Zedek Medical Center, vastly extends research opportunities and contributes to entrepreneurship in our medical center. Furthermore, the strategic collaboration with "Yissum", the technology transfer company of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem has extended research opportunities and joint projects with laboratories at the Hebrew University and enabled Shaare Zedek's researches to benefit from Yissum's professional intellectual property management services.

The Research and Development Authority of Shaare Zedek assists researchers obtaining competitive national and international academic grants. Our researchers have been recently awarded grants from the American National Institutes of Health, Horizon 2020 research program of the European Union, the Israeli Chief Scientist and numerous other prestigious organizations. These grants are worth millions of shekels every year and stand as a testimony of the quality of research conducted at Shaare Zedek.
