Born at Half-Time

First baby girl born in 2020 at Shaare Zedek is a new addition to a soccer-playing family

After everyone in the delivery rooms was in suspense to see who would be the first baby born at Shaare Zedek Medical Center in 2020, Mor and Evyatar Beruchian – a Betar Nordia soccer player – took the prize! The Beruchians arrived late evening and within four hours Mor gave birth to a beautiful baby girl weighing 3.050 kg at 00:24 on January 1.

All in all, the first 38 babies of 2020 at Shaare Zedek were born after midnight that night, and that's after 22,172 infants were born at Shaare Zedek in 2019.

The Beruchians: "This is our third birth at Shaare Zedek and each time we are amazed by the staff's professionalism and warmth. We came in towards evening and within a few hours she was already out. It was awesome and even more so to be the first of 2020!"

Shaare Zedek is the largest birthing center in the country, where more than 22,000 babies are born each year. Last year, Shaare Zedek expanded its birthing services with four new delivery rooms adapted for natural birth as well. The dedicated staff allow each mother to give birth in the way she wants, with the most advanced obstetrics equipment and accessories at their disposal, including a wireless monitor, new techniques for pain relief, Chinese acupuncture, Yoga therapy (at no charge), and laughing gas.

Congratulations to the Beruchians!
