Over the course of the Rosh Hashana holiday, Jerusalem’s Shaare Zedek Medical Center recorded 85 babies born with 55 born at the hospital’s main campus and 30 at the downtown Bikur Cholim campus.
At 9:33 on Friday evening just after the holiday began, Moran and Raphael Paz of Jerusalem (pictured) ushered in the new year with the birth of their first son born weighing 3.71 kg (8.16 lbs) with the excited parents saying, “We’re overjoyed to welcome in the new year with this new title as young parents and we welcome the chance to wish everyone a Shana Tova!”
Professor Sorina Grisaru, Director of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of the Wilf Woman and Infant Center said, “We wish Moran and Rafael Paz and all the new parents much happiness with this incredible gift they’ve received with the new year. Every year we accompany thousands of parents through childbirth in the safest, most comforting and supportive environment with a staff that thrives on the experience and professionalism that defines Shaare Zedek. Mazal Tov and Shana Tova!”
With over 22,000 births recorded last year, Shaare Zedek is the largest maternity hospital in Israel and known to be among the most active in all of the western world.
