Approximately 400 parents-to-be participated in a fun and fascinating morning hosted by the Shaare Zedek Medical Center at the Jerusalem Theater.
The event – a special convention about pregnancy and birth – was designed for pregnant women and their partners. There were lectures from Shaare Zedek’s experts in the field – Prof. Arnon Samueloff, Director of the Obstetrics and Pregnancy Complications Department, who spoke about pregnancy and birth; Dr. Rachel Michaelson, Obstetrics, Gynecology and Medical Genetics specialist, who talked about genetic testing; Dr. Daniel Shatalin, Senior Anesthetist in the Women’s Anesthesia Unit, on anesthesia during birth, and there was a Q&A panel with Mrs. Hava Hacham, Head Midwife at the Medical Center, Dr. Rachel Michaelson and Breastfeeding Counselor Idit Shitreet. In addition, participants were invited to a personal meeting with Shaare Zedek’s midwives to prepare a tailor-made birth program and ask any questions they had.
As well as the theoretical part of the convention, participants enjoyed a sumptuous breakfast and baby products fair.
Shaare Zedek’s Head Midwife, Mrs. Hava Hacham, thinks these conventions are hugely important: “The skilled midwifery team at the Shaare Zedek Medical Center is open to address all the new mother’s needs. The delivery room staff can cope with any kind of birth, as long as the mother’s wishes abide by birth safety standards. It is important the mother arrives at the delivery room with prior knowledge so she can choose the most suitable options for her situation. It can also help reduce stress and doubt for both her and her partner. These types of conventions can really help couples looking for a professional, authoritative response to all their questions about pregnancy and birth.”
