Speech perception tests are designed to evaluate the efficiency of the patient’s hearing devices (hearing aid, implant, etc.) and to help in selecting the appropriate form of hearing rehabilitation.
This examination involves a series of tests assessing the patient’s speech comprehension in situations of quietness and noise. The test relates to levels of syllables, words and sentences. Each ear is tested separately and both ears are then tested together. At the Audiology Institute at Shaare Zedek we conduct these tests as part of the process before a patient is accepted for an implant operation and to monitor changes and progress afterwards.
