The Orthopedics Department at the Shaare Zedek Medical Center offers general and specific orthopedic services to adults and children. These services are provided to hospitalized patients, in our out-patient clinics and in the health funds (kupot holim), where some of our doctors also work.

There are a number of units in the department, with different specialties:

The Spine Unit – treats spinal disorders, neck and back pains, slipped disc issues. Also offers conservative treatment together with the Physiotherapy Institute, and works with pain specialists, alternative medicine and expert surgeons.

The Pediatric Spine Service – works within the Children’s Hospital and deals with all the common and rare problems in children’s spinal cords. Particular attention is given to various deformations of the spine.

The Arthroscopy Unit – the first unit in Israel to perform partial knee joint replacement using arthroscopy. The unit – one of the most advanced of its kind – teaches doctors from all over the country.

The Hand Surgery Unit – deals with a wide range of injuries and disorders in the upper limbs.  From wounds and amputations to diseases of the joints, congenital defects and complex paralyses, such as CP and others. The unit works closely with the Hand Rehabilitation Institute, which provides physiotherapy and occupational therapy services.
