Medical Genetics Institute

The Fuld Department of Medical Genetics at Shaare Zedek Medical Center, also known as The Medical Genetics Institute,  provides extensive genetic services, both clinical and laboratory, through the counseling clinics. These are staffed by trained and experienced genetic counselors that offer multi-disciplinary genetic counseling for patients and family members. In addition, the institute operates several national treatment centers for rare genetic disorders.
The institute has at its disposal several diagnosis laboratories - Molecular Diagnostic Genetics Laboratory, Cytogenetic Laboratory, Chip Laboratory and Molecular Pathology Laboratory, as well as several research laboratories, among these is the Stem Cell Research Laboratory. As a center of excellence, the ramifications and implementation of our research extend far beyond the Jerusalem area. Our research has established us as key players on the world stage in research of the BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes that are associated with breast and ovarian cancer, and of Alzheimer's disease.
