Shaare Zedek Medical Center has about 700 dedicated volunteers of all ages representing a wide range of occupations. They include high school students, university students performing social services for the community, men and women seeking 'food for the soul', pensioners with rich life experience, and about 120 National Service ('Sherut Leumi') volunteers.

Most of the volunteers work in the medical departments and assist the nursing staff in basic nursing work, such as performing ECG tests, accompanying patients tests, helping distribute food and etc.
The volunteers are also assigned to administrative departments and assist the staff in various tasks such as translation, responding to phone calls and providing information at the intelligence post and etc.
Our additional projects include:

  1. Visiting lonely patients - Volunteers arriving for this purpose are referred to solitary patients.
  2. "The special unit" (Yehidat Segula) - A project in cooperation with the Ministry for Senior Citizens, whose goal is to fully utilize the rights of our elderly patients, in which volunteers guide our patients and accompany them in the process of taking advantage of the rights they deserve.
  3. Prevention of home accidents among children - A project in cooperation with the 'Beterem' Organization. These volunteers guide parents through the subject of preventing accidents at home.
  4. The Ya'el Organization – This operates stores for the benefit of patients and visitors.
