Nursing Team in the ED

The Nursing Team at Shaare Zedek Medical Center - The Face of the Hospital

The Emergency Department (ED) serves as the gateway to the hospital, where most patients seeking urgent medical care arrive. We, the nurses of the ED, understand that we are the first faces and the initial team that the patient encounters at Shaare Zedek. In a place of pain, anxiety, and uncertainty, we approach each patient with sensitivity and professionalism to facilitate their treatment process.

The nursing team is responsible for receiving the patient upon arrival, performing an initial triage based on urgency and prioritizing the patient's care throughout their stay in the department. This requires the team to possess extensive knowledge and versatile skills, including resuscitation, care for complex and critical patients, managing patients with varying levels of acuity while prioritizing and making quick decisions, all while maintaining efficiency during high-pressure and emergency situations and collaborating closely with the medical staff.

We acknowledge that every patient coming to the ED has their own family or social support network. Therefore, during the treatment process, we emphasize involving and engaging the patient's various support systems. Our goal is to provide quality and efficient care to every individual who seeks help in the Emergency Department while ensuring the patient's dignity and considering the needs of their family members.

As nurses in the ED, we take pride in being the front-line team that provides essential care, support, and comfort to those who require immediate medical attention. We work tirelessly to make the treatment process as smooth as possible and maintain open communication with the patient and their loved ones throughout their stay in the ED.
