Infection Prevention

About

In the current era, where diseases are becoming more complex and life-prolonging treatments are evolving, patients are more exposed than ever to the risk of acquiring infections from resistant bacteria and nosocomial infections. On one hand, patients become more vulnerable, and on the other hand, with the rapid spread of resistant strains and the slow development of new antibiotics, treatment options are diminishing. This situation highlights the urgent need for effective prevention of acquired and resistant infections.

Nosocomial infections in hospitals are the epidemic of the 21st century. Hospitalized patients are at risk of contracting resistant bacteria, which complicates their treatment. Additionally, they may develop nosocomial infections after invasive procedures such as surgeries, catheterizations, and more.

The role of the Infection Prevention Unit is to reduce the likelihood of such events and thus contribute to the patient's recovery without unnecessary infectious complications.

The Infection Prevention Unit collaborates with all teams within the hospital, including management, medical and para-medical staff, and logistics teams. This is achieved through education, guidelines, audits, and feedback. Additionally, the unit actively engages in various activities such as construction, disinfection, education, outbreak investigation, and more.
