Upon arriving in Palestine as a young man at the age of 26, Dr. Wallach devoted himself to a life mission of helping others. He tirelessly fought against severe illnesses afflicting his numerous patients, utilizing the available medicines and even prescribing essentials like milk, meat, and vegetables for those suffering from malnutrition. Prior to the establishment of the state, Dr. Wallach would conduct home visits throughout Jerusalem, riding on his donkey.

Dr. Wallach's contributions as a medical pioneer were remarkable. He performed Israel's first tracheotomy and introduced the vaccine for diphtheria for the first time. Throughout his 45-year tenure, he managed and founded Shaare Zedek Hospital, playing a pivotal role in developing a modern and advanced healthcare system for Jerusalem's residents. His commitment to medicine, the Jewish community, and improving medical services in the city was unwavering.

Dr. Wallach stood as an extraordinary figure in a city and community striving for survival. He instilled in the hospital a work routine that harmoniously blended Jewish values with modern medicine, serving as a role model for all who worked alongside him.
