The Technology Transfer Office (TTO) of Medait

Drives the development of discoveries and practical ideas emerging from the medical team at Shaare Zedek, with the aim of enhancing medical treatment, and operates as a full-fledged and internal accelerator. The unit supports the entire process starting from idea conception, patent filing, partner identification, creating a prototype, and securing funding for project advancement. Medait Shaare Zedek invests initial funding in ideas that have passed the patent committee's review to bring the idea to an appropriate stage for investor recruitment, incubation, or establishing spin-off companies. In 2022, the unit secured a unique grant of 6 million NIS from the Ministry of Science, along with Azrieli College of Engineering and St. Joseph's Hospital, and initiated the "R.M.H." (Medicine, Science, and Engineering) program to promote entrepreneurship within the hospital and transform technological ideas from concept to market products. In addition to funding selected projects, the program facilitates exposure of medical teams to the entrepreneurship world and fosters connections between medical professionals in the western and eastern parts of the city and engineers to find practical solutions to arising challenges.

Medait supports and encourages team members to develop ideas that significantly contribute to the fields of medicine and science.
For instance, the "Talim" Entrepreneurship Program is tailored for residents interested in the realm of innovation and entrepreneurship. Participants in the program receive a series of lectures on topics like startup establishment, fundraising, patents, trading strategies, and more. Each participant is paired with an internal and industry mentor according to their interests, and if there's an applicable application idea, initial funding can be provided to aid in the product development process under the guidance of the TTO team.
