Logistics and Engineering

The Logistics and Engineering Division maintains the physical facilities and operations support that allow the hospital's ongoing activity.

The engineering division is responsible for infrastructures including the electrical system, water (including treating the special water used by the dialysis units), medical gasses (oxygen, nitrogen and carbon dioxide) and air conditioning. The engineering systems are continuously monitored and undergo regular quality checks as required by law, with an emphasis on safety as well as back-up capabilities.

The medical engineering section deals with the purchase and maintenance of medical equipment (including MRI and CT scanners, linear accelerators for radiotherapy treatments, ventilators, incubators, etc.), as well as training for the relevant staff members concerning each device.

The logistics section handles the purchase, storage and distribution of hundreds of different types of disposable medical equipment, chemicals, office supplies, etc. for each department. Our sterile supply array, one of the best in Israel, provides the operating theaters and clinics with tens of thousands of kits throughout the year for surgery and ambulatory procedures.

Other responsibilities include:

  1. Cleaning and hygiene (including laundry and waste removal)
  2. Communications systems (cellular, landlines, wireless, satellite)
  3. Central switchboard and Appointment Call Center, handling hundreds of calls each day
  4. Preparation of meals for hospitalized patients as per individualized dietary requirements (low-fat, gluten-free, etc.), and meals for staff, all at the highest standards of kashrut.

In addition to the above, the Logistics and Engineering Division is responsible for maintenance of the hospital buildings and overseeing new construction projects, from the planning stage all the way to commencement of medical activity.
