About
The Neuroimmunology Clinic at Shaare Zedek Medical Center treats diseases of the nervous system caused by immune system dysfunction (autoimmune diseases).
Neuroimmunological diseases can affect the central nervous system, such as multiple sclerosis (MS), neuromyelitis optica (NMOSD), MOG antibody disease (MOGAD), and acute disseminated encephalomyelitis (ADEM). Additionally, diseases affecting the peripheral nervous system, such as myasthenia gravis (MG), Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS), chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP), and others are treated.
In recent years, new diseases affecting the nervous system due to inflammatory disturbances, such as autoimmune or paraneoplastic encephalitis, have been identified.
The clinic also treats systemic inflammatory diseases that affect both the central and peripheral nervous systems, such as lupus (SLE), sarcoidosis, Sjögren's syndrome, Behçet's disease, and others.
The clinic provides diagnostic processes, completes necessary tests as needed, and offers personalized treatment plans based on the nature of the disease and the patient's needs.
Emphasis is placed on personal care, patient support during and after hospitalization, maximum availability, and a rapid response to emerging issues, both medical and administrative.
Within the clinic, day hospitalization and the neurological department provide the most advanced treatments for inflammatory diseases of the nervous system, including intravenous medications for various autoimmune diseases, plasmapheresis, IVIG treatments, and more. Additionally, the clinic offers treatments for spasticity in conjunction with the movement disorders clinic, as well as neurosurgery.
