It is important to plan the day correctly so that trips are mainly scheduled during times when the sun is not at its peak intensity - from before sunrise until around 09:30-10:00, and if necessary, take a break and continue the trip in the afternoon.

Outdoor activities should be planned in shaded areas as much as possible, especially during midday when the sun's radiation is at its highest. For trips in exposed and shadeless areas, it is advisable to equip with lightweight shade nets and build a shade shelter to protect the travelers during the midday break.

There is also an option to equip yourself with personal radiation meters that warn against excessive exposure to sunlight radiation. These radiation meters are especially important for people with fair skin and those who have a history of skin cancer or immune system suppression.

Swimming in a pool or the sea is one of the common activities during the summer. We strive to keep our children safe, and in the summer, we must pay extra attention to safety guidelines. Take a moment to lift your eyes from the smartphone and watch your children more carefully.

Dr. Giora Weiser, a pediatric emergency medicine specialist, advises and explains:
Safety begins long before entering the water. It's essential to apply sunscreen to your child to protect their skin from sun damage. Parents, don't let young children enter water deeper than knee height in a pool, and make sure your child is accompanied by a responsible adult while swimming. At the beach, be vigilant and stay close to the shore. Underwater currents and tides can surprise both adults and children. Nowadays, we tend to bring our smartphones almost everywhere, making it a challenge. Our recommendation is to put the phone aside and stay extra attentive, take the opportunity to bond with friends and family.

During pregnancy, the body's temperature tends to rise faster than usual, leading many women to suffer more from the summer heat.

Ms. Hava Hacham, a leading midwife at Shaare Zedek, explains how to cope with heatwaves during pregnancy:

• The well-known cooling method - place a cool and moist cloth on the neck, forehead, or pulse points to regulate body temperature.
• Stay hydrated - drink plenty of water, juice, milk, or light energy drinks. In extremely hot weather, it's recommended to drink one cup of water every hour.
• Take a refreshing swim - the pool's cool waters will ease the burden on your body and reduce discomfort.
• Wear breathable clothing to prevent sweating, skin irritation, and fluid loss.
• Sprinkle a little water on yourself when you feel too hot.
• Engage in physical activities only during the cooler hours of the day.
• Breathe deeply - proper breathing helps balance body temperature.
• Avoid direct contact with the sun's rays and use sunscreen throughout the day.
• Swelling in the feet and ankles is common during pregnancy, especially in summer. If you experience swelling in the foot area, elevate your legs for 30 to 60 minutes a day.
If you experience weakness, fatigue, dizziness, or increased thirst, it's recommended to lie down, drink some water or energy drink, and consult a doctor.
