Disease Unit

The pediatric infectious disease physicians at Shaare Zedek Medical Center deal with a variety of aspects related to diagnosing and treating infectious diseases in children.

The unit provides consultation services to children who are being treated in each of the pediatric departments. Outpatient consultation is available at the clinic for non-admitted patients. The unit's physicians actively participate in the comprehensive care of children in the various hospital departments and play a central role in instructing students and residents at different stages.

The Unit for Infectious Diseases Research, under the leadership of Prof. Yechiel Shulzinger and Dr. Yafit Elder-Yehudia, is dedicated to the molecular diagnosis of various infectious diseases and the mechanisms of transmission of Cytomegalovirus (CMV) from the pregnant mother to the fetus.

The unit's physicians actively participate in international research in the field of pediatric pharmacy, primarily focusing on innovative vaccines against various childhood diseases.
