Pediatric Intensive Care Unit

The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Shaare Zedek Medical Center provides medical and nursing care to children from a few days old up to the age of 18 who are suffering from complex and severe illnesses, serious injuries due to accidents, and life-threatening diseases. The unit's team also cares for and supervises children after complex surgeries, traumatic injuries, complex fractures, severe respiratory diseases, neurosurgical procedures, burns, metabolic disorders, and more. The treatment is administered by a highly professional team of doctors from various specialties, skilled nursing staff, and paramedical personnel who assist in all necessary aspects of providing optimal care. This includes close and continuous monitoring of the patient's condition with the help of advanced equipment, and delivering comprehensive and professional care to both the patient and their family.

We are aware of the great difficulty when your loved one is hospitalized in intensive care, whether planned or suddenly. The staff will be happy to help in any way possible and share with the parents during the illness and treatment of your loved one. The unit's staff encourages the presence of parents at all times with the patient, except for times when surgical operations or unusual operations are performed. We also allow visits by grandparents, but due to the nature of the treatment in the unit, maintaining privacy and the fear of transmission of infections, it is not possible to allow visits by additional people within the unit. There is a special room for the children's parents next to the unit as well as other spaces where you can meet your visitors.
