Shaare Zedek's Cardiology Center, one of the largest and most advanced in the country, encompasses all aspects of modern cardiology and is staffed by leading cardiologists in Israel. Each resident in rotation receives personal guidance and a tailored plan based on their needs and areas of interest. The theoretical and practical knowledge you acquire during this time is extensive, highly valuable, and will serve you well in whichever professional path you choose. You will be exposed to a wide spectrum of cardiology treatments, including intensive heart care, catheterizations, structural cardiology, theoretical and invasive electrophysiology, imaging, echocardiography, the cardiology department, and a variety of heart failure treatments.

Aspiring residents have the opportunity to initiate a personal research project during this rotation, with guidance and the possibility of personalizing a promising topic for fundamental scientific exploration under private mentorship.

Led by Prof. Michael Glikson, the new Cardiology Center views the education of the future generation of cardiologists as a central goal and an inseparable part of clinical practice. The center is recognized as an excellent hub in all fields of modern cardiology: invasive cardiology, electrophysiology, echocardiography and cardiac imaging, heart failure and artificial heart transplantation, cardiac genetics, prevention and rehabilitation, cardiac surgery, and academic research. As the largest cardiology department in Israel, the cardiology system allows for clinical involvement and exposure to a wide range of cardiac conditions across the spectrum, utilizing cutting-edge technologies.

The Integrated Heart Center holds daily morning meetings that include detailed clinical reviews of complex patients from the cardiac unit, with input from the integrated cardiology team. This is combined with integral academic activities and lectures by experts from Israel and around the world, fostering multi-disciplinary discussions around individual cases. Teaching continues alongside ongoing clinical engagement in the various departments and units of the Heart Center. Specialized teaching workshops are held each week, according to a structured annual syllabus and the curriculum requirements for specialization. The center's residents are supported and encouraged to participate in local meetings and international conferences.

Under the leadership of a distinguished medical faculty, we have created a personalized Residency program tailored to the specific interests of each resident. The cardiology center takes pride in providing a comprehensive curriculum for specialization, complete with full rotations according to the requirements of the Scientific Council. This structure is not implemented in all cardiology departments across Israel. Every resident receives both theoretical and practical training, gaining exposure and clinical experience in the diverse fields of modern cardiology.

The Integrated Heart Center at Shaare Zedek Medical Center is affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at the Hebrew University and places significant importance on academic activities. Hence, the residents are required to complete personal academic projects under the guidance of leading researchers, aligned with their specialization tendencies. For those residents with particular interests or those following a direct training track to cardiology, a personally tailored promising research topic is assigned, providing fundamental scientific insight with personal guidance.

The cardiology system at Shaare Zedek Medical Center is nationally recognized as a department with excellent teaching, receiving prominent feedback from the Hebrew University.
