Fluoroscopy

A fluoroscopy examination, a dynamic imaging technique using low levels of radiation, is performed to visualize the upper gastrointestinal (GI) tract, colon, fistulography, distal colonography, and more. During these tests, a contrast material is introduced into the digestive system (via drinking, enema, etc.), and the imaging is conducted while the contrast material is passing through.

Children undergo these examinations with one of their parents present. It is important to remember that this procedure involves radiation, so pregnant women cannot remain with their child during the examination.
