The Imaging Institute at Shaare Zedek has undergone significant development in recent years, including the acquisition of state-of-the-art imaging equipment and innovative technologies. The department has recruited experts with extensive knowledge in various imaging fields, many of whom have undergone fellowships both in Israel and abroad, specializing in different subfields. The Institute embraces the integration of novel imaging techniques such as fetal MRI, the use of contrast agents for ultrasound, and implementation of AI technologies.
The Institute is busy by Israeli and even international standards, with around 250,000 imaging tests performed annually. The staff of over 100 includes 24 senior physicians, most of whom are graduates of fellowships (in Israel and abroad) in the various sub-specialties. Additionally, there are a dozen residents who benefit from the diverse exposure and structured training program.
The department is well-equipped with world-class technology, including 2 MRI machines, 3 CT scanners, ultrasound rooms, digital radiography and fluoroscopy, and 2 angiography suites for interventional radiology procedures.
Adhering to advanced medical standards, the Imaging Department has a satellite facility in the ER, equipped with an advanced CT scanner, X-ray, and ultrasound rooms, providing imaging services for urgent needs 24/7.
Other specialized imaging units include angiography (for urgent and ambulatory interventional procedures), pediatric imaging, neuroradiology, ultrasound (routine interventional procedures such as biopsies and aspirations), breast imaging, musculoskeletal imaging, chest and cardiac imaging, and abdominal and pelvic imaging.
