The Rheumatology Unit at Shaare Zedek Medical Center offers consultation services to all hospital departments, and operates outpatient clinics for follow-up and for patients referred from the ER (triage) or from community clinics. The unit's physicians also provide telephone consultations to family physicians in Jerusalem and the surrounding area.

The unit's physicians treat a variety of rheumatological problems, specializing in the following areas:

Temporal Arteritis

Inflammation of the blood vessels that supply blood to the head. It primarily occurs in the arteries around the temples but can also affect other arteries in the body. Over the years, the unit's physicians have accumulated extensive experience in diagnosing and treating this condition.

Scleroderma (Connective Tissue Disease)

An autoimmune disease that mainly affects the skin but can also impact blood vessels, internal organs, and joints. It is characterized by an excess of collagen protein, leading to skin tightening. The unit has a significant interest in and extensive experience in treating various aspects of this disease.

Military Clinic

The unit operates a separate clinic for soldiers referred to rheumatology clinics, which helps expedite the process and serves soldiers from all over the country.

Clinical Immunology

Within the unit, there is a weekly clinic for allergy and clinical immunology.

Pediatric Clinic

Within the hospital, there is a pediatric clinic that caters to children.
