High-Risk Pregnancy Clinics

This clinic is for women with pre-existing diabetes (type 1 or 2) or gestational diabetes during pregnancy and before conception. The clinic provides close pregnancy monitoring, medication adjustments, personalized nutrition plans, and multidisciplinary support. The goal is to maintain blood sugar balance and prevent complications, while supporting a normal and healthy pregnancy.

The clinic is dedicated to ensuring that women with congenital heart defects can experience pregnancy and childbirth safely, while protecting the health of both mother and baby. It specializes in the care of pregnant women with congenital or acquired heart conditions, as well as those requiring enhanced cardiac monitoring during pregnancy.

Services include: medical monitoring of heart function and physiological changes during pregnancy, identifying and managing potential risks; personalized birth planning with risk assessment and a safe birth plan for mother and fetus, including medical support during and after delivery; and pre-pregnancy counseling for women with heart defects considering pregnancy, offering medical advice to assess heart condition and optimize preparation.

Inflammatory bowel diseases are chronic conditions with alternating periods of flare-ups and remission, often requiring regular immunosuppressant medications and frequently involving abdominal surgeries. All these factors raise many concerns among young female patients regarding their fertility. Pregnancy with a history of inflammatory bowel disease is generally considered a high-risk pregnancy.

The Silent Birth Clinic is for women who have experienced pregnancy loss. The purpose of the meeting is to conduct examinations and medical evaluations to identify possible causes of the pregnancy loss and provide guidance for future pregnancies.

Preterm birth (before 36 weeks) is associated with an increased risk of short- and long-term complications, especially the earlier the gestational age. The Preterm Birth Follow-Up Clinic at Shaare Zedek focuses on dedicated treatment to prevent preterm births, alongside community medical follow-up.

Who is the clinic for?

Women who have had a previous preterm birth, women at risk of preterm birth in the current pregnancy, women with structural problems in the uterus or cervix, including the need for cervical cerclage evaluation.

The Pregnancy Coagulation Clinic provides treatment for women at risk of coagulation disorders, such as genetic thrombophilia, PE, DVT, APLA syndrome, and bleeding problems. The clinic offers diagnosis, personalized monitoring, and drug treatment (e.g., Clexane) to prevent pregnancy complications such as preeclampsia or intrauterine growth restriction. Treatment is carried out in a multidisciplinary collaboration to ensure a normal and safe pregnancy.

The Obstetric Anesthesia Clinic provides consultation and preparation for pregnant women regarding anesthesia options during childbirth, including epidural, spinal, or general anesthesia. The clinic focuses on prior medical evaluation and tailoring the type of anesthesia to the patient's individual needs, taking into account medical history and potential risks.
