Selection Regulations

Each health fund (Kupat Cholim - HMO) has its own regulations as to the medical facilities available to its members in each medical field.

There are certain medical fields in which these restrictions do not apply, and patients may seek treatment at any facility of their choice. These include ER, childbirth, oncology, neurosurgery, gynecological surgeries, fertility, and psychiatry. 

When you receive a payment commitment letter (hitchayvut - "tofes 17") from your Kupat Cholim for any of these areas, along with the name of the medical institution to which you are automatically referred, there appears a list of all other facilities where the treatment/examination can be performed. You then have the option to choose any one of the listed facilities.
