Elective Cesarean Section
A cesarean section, commonly known as a C-section, is a surgical procedure in which the baby is delivered through an incision made in the abdomen and uterus.
Approximately 20% of births in Israel are conducted through cesarean section. Most of these procedures are performed as emergencies, typically when the process of natural vaginal birth has already commenced but a decision is made to opt for a cesarean delivery. This decision is often based on factors such as suspected fetal distress during labor or insufficient progress in the birthing process, among other considerations.
