Following a prostate MRI, the specialist in prostate imaging interprets the MRI images. If there are suspicious findings, meaning PIRADS 3 and above, a biopsy is performed from those areas. The MRI images are integrated with a real-time ultrasound image using specialized software and equipment. This allows the biopsy needle to be directed to the finding seen in the MRI during the biopsy procedure.
